Troubleshooting Your Ductless Mini-Split in Marco Island, FL
We know you’d like your ductless mini-split to hum away contentedly without ever having a problem. But, we also know you’ll eventually need us to repair your ductless mini-split at your Marco Island, FL, home. Here are some troubleshooting tips to find out a little about what’s wrong with your ductless mini-split before we arrive:
Look at the Air Filter
You should check your ductless HVAC system’s filter every month for dirt and debris. Clean the filter if it’s excessively filthy, but leave any more complex fixes to one of our professional service technicians.
Gently Wash Around the Outside Unit
You can use a hose to clean leaves and other detritus off the ductless HVAC system’s outside unit. While you’re outside, check the outdoor vents for dust and debris and the connecting hoses for leaks. Remember not to repair the mechanical parts of your system, which only an experienced service technician should do.
Check the Circuit Breaker
Occasional breaker trips are normal, but tripping excessively is not. Causes of excessive breaker trips could be surges from the ductless mini-split, a faulty breaker or wiring problems. You’ll need professionals to handle this situation: an electrician for the junction box and one of our service technicians for the ductless mini-split.
Vinegar Down the Drain Line
If your ductless mini-split is leaking water, the drain line might be the issue. Turn off the ductless mini-split and pour a little vinegar down the drain line. If the water seepage continues, have one of our service technicians investigate it.
